Project description

The Bexbach power plant operates a 700 MW coal-fired boiler. Because of the growing difficulty in obtaining Saar coal, the power plant has to be started up and shut down frequently. Auxiliary steam also needs to be supplied and this is provided by two auxiliary steam generators, each with a steam output of 50 t/h.

These used to be fired with methane from the nearby mine. Because of rising gas prices, the auxiliary gas generators were converted to oil burners in order to gain a large measure of independence from strongly fluctuating market prices.
