Since 2001, AMSA has operated a thermal waste treatment plant, SILLA2.
The plant has three furnace lines with a total capacity of 42 tonnes/h. This means 75 tonnes/h steam is supplied to a steam turbine at a temperature of 440 °C and 52 bar pressure. The electrical power output of the steam turbine is 59 MW. The operator exchanged part of the existing turbine protection system due to inadequate availability. It is a non-ABB system, the so-called TURMON (turbine monitoring). The newly installed turbine protection system is based on the ABB Advant system AC160, and is installed under the ABB Advant control system AC450 with AS 500 OS.
The task for INP International Projects involved exchanging the TURMON
system and integrating components related to ABB Advant. Initially the existing TURMON system was investigated and alternatives to the existing configuration were developed so that existing interfaces both to the field level and also the turbine protection system could be adopted with as few changes as possible.
